Almost sold the C-5 & bought a C-6.

I could have made more than I paid for my car and bought the C-6 way under book value.

Everyone I spoke to asked me the same question: why?

Putting the potential profit aside, there was no reason to do it.

I know soon enough I will have to re-consider trading up. But for now, no.

Great to have good friends that bring you back to your senses. (and they aren't even Corvette people who would have kicked my backside)

Good decision! It's hard at times to not get wrapped up in the power of "advertising" The GM car ads are done by professionals. It is their JOB to persuade us to spend our money to buy their product (in this case a $60-$70K CAR!) My next Vette won't be a NEW one (I'm happy with my C5 for road trips) My next Vette will be a C2 to use at local cruises and shows to "compliment" the ownership of the C5 and at the same time buy a car that will "appreciate" in value. C5 for driving duties, C2 for other than that.

i had a guy almost a yr ago tell me if i give him $25000 and my title i could have his title to his C6. i am still kicking myself for not doing it. it was a Z06. check book was out and i started to write. when the visual of my wifes face looking at me with complete disgust popped into my mind. i had just the day before told her we couldnt buy the new body suburban till they had been out a yr or so. and deals could be had. the tires off the rear of that car, i posted in the xmas pay it forward thread as a pickup only and its yours. she told me later that i should have done the deal.

I think the C5 is and will continue to be a classic compared to the C6. It is a design I will not soon be giving up.

If it wasn't for the huge difference in price that the C6 would require, I'd probably seriously consider making the leap. I love my C5, but after having driven the C6, I could see myself having a lot of fun in that car too.
