what's the best...

Lately, there's been the recurring topics of what's the best shifter, best battery, best battery charger, best oil filter, best exhaust, best headers, best air intake...to the best of my knowledge none of the replying "experts" agreed on any topic.
Since it's obvious there's always going to be different opinions based on personal experience (most people won't admit they made a bad choice), why even ask "what's the best [insert topic here]".
The search function is way underused...

than responses, to say nothing of whole threads, that are complaining about
I will also point out that the search function leaves a LOT to be desired and can't be used at all for certain things as the search terms don't meet "the rules". Google it ain't.

This has been going on for the 5 years I have been here, probably longer.
It is cyclic - new members join, new members ask all the usual questions, whomever wants to take the time posts answers, a few tell the newbs to use the search, new members join....thus creating the cycle of forum life.
Not gonna change it.
Search is good, but so is discussion, and that's what this is here for.
It really would be pretty lifeless in here if everyone who had a question always exhaustively searched the archives for an answer.
I suppose we could start slow and try to educate people to read the owners manual.
You will never get everyone to agree (is that what we are trying to do here?) on one particular mod.
It is very good to hear each persons experiences and make your own decision based on what information you can gather.
I like to think of that process as learning.
Not being mean here - just pointing it out as an irony; your post is also a recurring topic, albeit not as common as the "what brand of floor mats should I buy" topic.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
One problem I have with the forum, is you are advised against saying anything bad about a product/vendor. You still have to draw your own conclusion from a post, good or bad.

What's the best search term could I have used to find those previous discussions?
The real reason most people don't use the search function is we all want the CLIFF'S NOTES fast food drive through version of an answer.

So, what would be your favorite American Sports Car that is a little more affordable?

That's ok - that is why we all are here anyway -
Did you search archived threads? I know that the subject pops up every now and again, and it is a tongue in cheek joke amongst folks who have been here a while to ask "what color floor mats should I get?" etc.
There are many many recurring topics - just the way it is.
