I have 2003 Coupe with 27,000 miles and the only thing I have had to do to the car is change the oil and recently replace the tires. The car is totally stock and is my daily driver. On the way home monday night the Check Engine light came on. I pulled over and the only thing the owners manual could tell me was to make sure the gas cap was secure, which it was. I took the car to the shop and just found out the right Air Injection Pump needs to be replaced, a $600 repair job. I'm trying to find out if any other owners have had this problem, is it common and if GM might have issued a TSB on this problem. I appreciate any and all responses.

There is only *1* Air Injection pump on a C5 Corvette. It blows air into both exhaust manifolds on startup to reduce emissions. If the SES code says "Right" it is probably nothing more than a blocked air tube - a quick fix.
Had this happen to my 04… the Check Eng would come on when it went into closed loop, the rubber check valve (diverter) went bad and stuck in the open position, you could hear air going into the air cleaner all the time. Removed and fixed with a little RTV and all was well again.. Had to pull the lower cover off in front of the left front wheel to get to it.

Haven't heard of this being a problem with the C5s - at least not reported here on the forum much. Hope it is something simple - but if it is the pump, may want to check with another shop on pricing.

Is the check valve you are referring to on the pump itself or elswhere? Did you just fix the valve and reinstall it or purchase a new one? I have had this SES code for some time. My pump was relocated after I installed my blower and started getting this code. I know the pump is pushing air because I removed the rubber hose where it connects up top next to the brake booster and can hear it. I get the SES light once the car gets warm.
The shop tells me they have to take the intake off in order to get to the pump, this helps explain the $600 repair quote. I've called a couple of tuners in the area and they say given the repair the $600 quote is not unreasonable. They also told me the shop that is doing the repair has a good reputation locally and isn't trying to scam me. I really can't complain since they have furnished me a loaner while they to the repair.

Hmmmm, maybe I am confused on this Air Injection Pump, I thought it was in the nose of the car on the driver side. Maybe the Air Pump and Air Injection Pump are different.

Sounds like the valve is broke for the passenger side and not the pump. My 2004 is at the dealer right now for this same problem. $580 to fix it. Bummer.

They are not removing the intake to get to the pump. They are removing it to get to the right side check valve (there are two), which is located behind the intake.
Like EG said, there is only 1 air pump and it is nowhere near the intake manifold.
If they are screw..., er charging you for a pump, and only replacing the check valve, then like JD said go to another shop. That check valve is only about a $10 item.

Just after the pump, I took it apart to make the fix, as I remember it had a spring and a red rubber check valve in it.
