hey guys, sorry if this has been covered before (and I KNOW it has, but my search skills are failing me)
What would you guys says is the best aftermarket alarm system with remote-start for the c5? The wife is doing my Christmas shopping and wants some ideas
the best thing to do on the c5 alarm is leave it alone, I have yet to see some one install an aftermarket alarm that didnt mess with something especially on a vette

You have not been looking at the right alarm installers.
Anything from DEI....who happens to own Clifford. Personally unless you are a big time techy I would stay away from Clifford. They are fantastic alarms when installed correctly but they require alot of user interaction. Viper and Python are just as good and alot more user friendly. But what is more important then the alarm system is the installer. Make sure you find an installer with alot of experience installing alarm systems...not just audio. The difference between an expensive noise maker and a proper security system is the installer.
I agree with EatRice. I myself am particular to Viper, however the system is only as good as the installer. Just remember in cases like this, you get what you pay for. I have had several vehicles and used Viper's Alarm/Remote start and have had no problems what so ever. I have even had friends use Viper's on their 5spds and again have had no issues. So for me hands down, Viper is the way to go.
I have any Echo II, made by Omega. It was on the car when I bought it. The alarm works well, but the key fob is too big. If the keys in my pocket accidentally push one of the buttons (which it always does), the alarm goes off. It also runs the battery down faster on the car. I have 2 lights on the front and 2 on the rear of the car which flash off and on continuously ( I think they are LED's), but still draw on the battery. All in all, I love the alarm, but hate the key fob thing. I think the system was about $140.00.
