I was reading some discussion yesterday on another thread about the Diablo Predator, the hand-held tuner that you can reprogram your engine's computer with to increase fuel efficiency, add HP, adjust shift points (mine's an '03 coupe with automatic tranny), etc. What do you guys think of this gizmo? Have any of you used one? One site advertises them for about $350. Doubt I'll bother getting one, but am curious as to whether they do all they say they can do, and whether any of you guys have used one. Thanks.
I just bought one & "tuned" the car with it. I can say that the car shifts hard now but as far as more power, I haven't been able to drive the car on a nice warm day to see if it makes a difference. It apears the car has more power or torque but every time I tried to drive WOT, the back end would break loose. I almost lost it at a 40mph kick down. The road was cold & moist so I couldn't tell for sure the difference. The reason I got it was to reprogram the cooling fans. Everyone else I talked to (who have them) say it has helped to add power but the most was with the tranny. I have heard they don't help with manual trannys. I don't think I would buy one at retail. I got mine for $200.
I have used it and it is very handy, esspecially for A4 setups. I like the fact that I can view retime data. I could see the LTFTs, the actual RPM, the AF and adjust a few things to help even it out. It is a nice tuner.
STS sends this tuner with their tune, so when you install their TT setup you upload the tune with the Diablo.

I have the same set-up A4on 04 and I personally really like it. Quick to install and remove for dealer visits and not that pricey for alittle pick me up.I found mine new for about $300 ,my .02
Appreciate the input guys, thanks. I suppose you just plug the thing into the port under the dash and push a few buttons....sounds easy, but I'm not really sure it would add HP, although they claim it adds 15-20, plus you supposedly get a little better fuel efficiency. I'll have to mull it over some more I guess. Thanks again.
