Default Another headers question

With TSP now offering headers x pipe and all accesories needed to install them for 749.99 I've taken a new outlook on which headers to get. I'm wondering if any of you know how they headers will compare in performance results compared to kooks,AR,lg pro's and so forth. I see on one posting they got around 30rwhp and 30torque improvement on a stock 99c5 with no other mods and no tune. Thanks for the help

i think it is fair to say that they are NOT as nice and WONT make more power than the kooks or pro's..... they are similar to the LG streets, dynamaxxx, etc.... and that is a GREAT price, AND they are COATED!!!!

ill guess they will dyno around 5-10 less than the better ones...

what a deal though..... i think i may jump on them. also.

30hp is consistant with a recent article in Vette magazine on a stock Vette.

TSP are good headers. When I was searching, I found out they are made out of steel, not stainless, that's why they are treated. Long tubes will give you more power that those like the Street series of LG or TSP. Its only about 7-10 rwhp, I just got American Racing headers and Vette Doctors are having a sale until the end of the month for $1491 including cats and shipping. That's a good price. Good luck.

I plan on buying the C5 TSP header 'kit' and hopefully install it myself within the next couple weeks. I imagine since the TSP headers are TRUE longtubes with 1-3/4" primaries, they probably make a little more power than the LG Streets (1-5/8" tubes) but not quite as much as the 1-3/4" LG Pros (the difference being collector design and 'X' pipe placement).
I like the design of these longer tube primary headers, as I believe they tend to make close to their max power potential with a wide variety of camshafts. The Kooks, SWs, ARs, etc., obviously make excellent power (with most forum members very pleased with them), but with the shorter primaries (yet larger 1-7/8" pipes) they seem to be better matched to aggressive cams with narrower lobe separation angles (and with heads intended for such a cam).
Forced induction and big inch strokers opens up a whole other 'can of worms'.
We should all feel fortunate that the LSx motors respond to all these header designs so well. Making even the overpriced systems somewhat worth their cost. However, until we are able to crown ONE particular header as 'King' of the LSx world, I cannot justify $1,500 for headers/exhaust when they can be had for much less (half ???).

So, back to the more important subject of POWER NUMBERS...
Who has some good HP/TQ figures for us?

Mine are on the way, too. Should have them on in a week or two. Won't be able to tune until I decide on a cam later this winter (still driving the car until it snows).

well the headers are on and the job is done!

i did the install by myself in about 12hrs.
i also did new plugs and removed the a.i.r system.
installed from the top on jack stands.
although im sure they are much easier to install
from the bottom!

these headers are a PAIN in the *** to install.... sorry to say that but they are., if anyone needs details of the install feel free to PM me. i think the quality was good but my main problem is the header final fitment on the drivers side.
im hitting a little on the bell housing and the steering linkage.
the pass. side fits great! and the x-pipe bolted on EASY and everything lined up PERFECT.

quality- 10
price - 10
fitment- 7
ease of install- 6

overall score for the kit is an 8.

i just got done doing a shake down run and they sound GREAT! i can also feal a nice gain the butt dyno.... ill post up REAL numbers when i get them. but id say at least 25rwhp after tuning.

oh and the weight diff. is...................................... .....

stock set-up was around 70lbs.
TSP kit was around 50lbs.
and the a.i.r. system in total was 7 pounds.

so 27 less pounds and 20+ more HP sounds like a hell of a deal for $750.00
