Well, apparently Rodney's glue desn't work that well.
I'm refering to the kit for changing out the gears in our headlight motors.

The gears are great, however the epoxy leaves a lot to be desired.
I had installed the brass gears a while back and used the epoxy included. It separated and the glue flakes fell off, even though I had cleaned all the surfaces with alcohol first before I glued it.
Sooooo....This time I got smart, after I reglued it I took my trusty old soldering gun and melted the entire edge of the cap where it joins the gear case.
It's definitely solid now!
Just a helpful hint if yours pops open!

Rodney has fixed that problem. His new kit has different epoxy and also an additional brace that is used. I had the same problem as you, contacted Rodney and he sent the updated kit in a very timely fashion.

The Brace! That's what will keep it from separating.

I was scratching my head trying to invent just such a brace when I got disgusted and melted the thing!

i drilled several small holes thru the cap and the housing. i then inserted some cotter pins and twist tied them and clipped off the excess.

it's definately on there solid and the pins can be clipped if i ever need to go back in there again.
