Driving into the sun today, got lots of glare from top of dash, (maybe the previous owner was overzealous with the Armorall). Anyhow I'm looking for suggestions to dull the top, without damaging anything. Ideas?

Take some very mild dishwashing soap (like Dove or Ivory) and put in some warm water. Then moisten a washcloth with the soap and water and gently wipe down the dash. Follow up with a washcloth in clean water with no soap. Then towel down if needed. I've done this to my dash to clean it and it works very well.
I agree, the glare from the dash on my Z06 makes seeing very difficult. I've thought about buying a dash pad for mine as well. I've tried cleaning everything off the dash but it's still pretty tough to see clearly...
When you wash your Vette, most likely you'll have some soapy water left over (I usually have a quarter bucket), wet and wring out a rag, and wipe down all the plastic surfaces such as the dash pad and garnish moldings, door panels etc. This will keep them looking new, and should remove any surface applications applied by a previous owner. It may take a few times to get it back to it's original look. (see owner's manual recommended procedure for cleaning interior)
I had the exact same problem. I used Griot's Garage Interior Cleaner on a terry cloth towel. Worked like magic. It's less than 10 bucks and I could not be happier. The dealer COATED my dash in Armor All and I was sick of getting that crap on my hands and the wheel and the shifter, etc.
I know this may not be a full solution to the problem, but have you tried polarized sunglases? I have them and they cut glare substantially. Its not a 100% fix, but at least i can see. Just a different idea. Hope this helps.

The polarized glasses work well and if you need perscription lenses walmart sells clip-ons that work also. It is really bad with the shale interiors on AE and CE models. The polarized lenses will cut way down on the brightness of the HUD, but it is still readable.
Polorized glasses will make your HUD impossible to see.......
I don't believe this statement is true. I drive mine with a polarized set of clip ons for my prescription glasses and I see the HUD just fine. In fact, the very first time I drove it during the day I couldn't see a darn thing until I put the polarized clip ons on my glasses...
