Default Re: heated drivers side mirror

I'm a big fan of those little "stick-on" circular convex mirrors.

Have been using one for the last several years because of the monster blind spot I have on my Ford Explorer.

Would like to add one to my drivers side mirror on my new C5, but was a little concerned when I read in the manual that it's heated.

Any thoughts or comments regarding the possibility of this being a problem, would be appreciated.

thanks,

DH

You shouldn't have a problem with the heat affecting the spot mirror.

You can also buy a complete overlay mirror made for the Corvette with a built in convex spot.

2k2C5,

Thanks for the information and the link to "Eckler's" for the overlay mirror.

They don't give much of a description for this item except to say that it fits over the existing mirror by way of two sided tape.

I'm not sure that I see any advantage over just sticking a 2" spot mirror on the existing mirror. That's what I've done with my other vehicles and they're very easy to remove if you need to. Also much cheaper.

If you or anyone has had any direct experience with the Eckler's overlay mirror and would like to share it, I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks again,

DH

I don't have one so I can't comment on how they fit or work. I would wonder though how it would alter the effectivness of the heated mirror since the entire mirror would be covered with the overlay.

I have a spot convex mirror stuck on the extreme left edge of my driver side mirror. Never considered whether it affected the heated mirror or not; so far (5years) no issues with it. Saved my *** at least a couple of times though

Thanks for your input, "Napacruzerc5".

The only problem that I could envision was that the heated mirror might affect the adhesion of the little spot mirror. Your reply regarding your personal experience with this, answers that question.

Do you use the 2" diameter size mirror or a larger one?

I hear ya on the "saving your ***" part. These little mirrors have done the same for me on several occasions also.

Thanks for your very helpful input.

That would be my concern also. Aside from the fact that they are nearly $30.00 versus $1-2.00 for a spot mirror.

All this being said and considered, I do appreciate the suggestion, here in the forum. The full coverage type mirror is a product that I was not aware of.

Thanks again to all who were kind enough to reply to my question.
