anyone have prior problems with this. Its a 2004. You can hear a faint click when selecting down from either door. Also where is a good place to purchase a factory service manual w/wire diagrams.
Yes, it is a common problem if the car sits a lot. Follow the advice on the thread that Mark referenced.
Once you get it working again make sure you activate both windows frequently. I have not had it happen again as I make sure I cycle the windows every time I use the car and several times during the winter when it is parked.
Quite often this is nothing more serious than a blown fuse. Check your fuses before you start going all into wiring diagrams and stuff.
Did you by chance try to roll your window down when there was some ice on it last week? I've done that before as a lazy way to try and get the ice off, but if the window is frozen shut it will blow the fuse every time, so don't make the mistake I did.
Edit
Oops! Sorry! Should have read your post more closely, didn't see about the "clicking". That's another problem, see the thread referenced above.

well, I beat on it for quite sometime. All it did was cause my Dog in the house to bark. Then my wife opened the door and gave me a strange look.haha. The click noise sounds like it is right behind the speaker. I guess this is where the motor is? Perhaps I should remove the door panel and use a soft faced mallet right on the motor?
As you are looking at the inside of the door, look at the handle you would use to close the door (from the inside). The front part of the handle (the part nearest to the front of the car) is where you need to hit. Hit right there, right where the handle connects to the rest of the door. Keep banging on it (HARD) while pressing the window switch repeatedly (obviously with the key to the 'ON' position). Disassembly is not required.
Trust me, it will work. It might take a minute or two, but it will work. The window is sort of stuck in the up position, and you just have to un-stick it.
It’s the brushes in the POS motor and yes you can occasionally jar them loose and reestablish connection for a wile.
Oh, I just aim for a decent sized pot hole. Works one out of three times and I’m on my second motor and that’s on a 04. I’m getting rid of it as soon as I can get a decent deal on C6.

Hmmm, didn't know this was a probelm on the '04's. It happens three or four times a year on my '82 except it's stuck in the down position. I use a similar routine to get her working again. All else fails I take the door panel off and apply 12V to the terminals with my battery charger - bam, she wakes up, like a defib to the heart!
Mine would not go down and you could hear the click and the lights would dim. I just grabbed the window on each side with an open hand and pulled downward. Then tried it and it worked. Cycled it a few times and since then no issues.
The warranty is expired. But I did get a extended warranty from my credit union. Its 7 more years and/or 75,000 more miles with a $100 deduct. It covers everything except basically brake pads & tune-up parts. I will cycle the window regularly now, if it acts up again. I will take it in, to take advantage of the warranty.
