[Z06] What beats c5 z06 on the street?

Melting Slicks
a ford GT will walk away from you like you're standing still and you'll lose to a new viper every time if he knows how to drive. if you are really concerned about it, throw a botttle at it and you'll be damn hard to beat from a roll.

Fastest Thing On The Road
I say don't worry about it, just remember dollar for dollar you own and drive one of the best sports car on the road for the money bar none. I just wave and smile at them especially the rice boys because all they can do is "wish". I say drive it and enjoy !!

Most of them "rice" boys dont even like Vettes, so they would rather do their imports as they get all the hot young girls with those.

Boy times have changed. When I was a kid I did that with my Porsche. I guess the young girls today have significantly lowered their standards.

And that is why I shake my head and give them the thumbs down when they pass me staring or rev at me. Where are all those losers when I go to open track day at the roadcourse? If they would just show up, I think they would see the light.

I agree with those who warn against sleepers. I had a new GTO that I couldn't shake until I topped 100 MPH. I've even had trouble with some modded SRT4s. Of course those dang Cobra's will run away from a Z on a straight away. I tell those guys next time we race I get to choose the road (it'll have lots of curves).

That would require common sense. Something they lack. Best quote I have from a ricer kid, "If I put sixty thousand dollars into my Honda, I could SMOKE your Z06." I gave him my best Dean Martin impression and said, "blublublublublublublublu...kid, if you put 60 thousand dollars into that Honda, you're a moron."

Any big turboe'd car that runs race gas, refuses to run except only on gay *** terms (65mph+ rolls so they can brake boost, spool up, get traction)
unreliable POS's but can be made fast under conditions.

I had over 800+ runs till my 2002 pistons rings gave out...can't do that taking a factory four banger n/a and extracting 300% normal output and even pray to be nearly reliable as all motor V8 muscle.
Also you have to do with import theives, its insane, never going back to imports (unless they start make muscle-like V8's)

most are diehard "import" fans... mostly honda(hatches). i get bashed all day long on my local board about how 400+whp cars are going to hand me my ***. Even the local tuner tells all these idiots they can beat the Big Bad Z06... Dyno the car all day and brought it out... beat the car and they take it back to the dyno... ive got maybe 20 excuses already and already gave these guys 2 weeks to try make it quick enough for thier requested rematch. also ive got the hot young girls covered

Heres a good example of our low cost fast "ricer"...we have a Datsun 240z we race that my son and I built specifically for beating up on supercars at the track (370+ hp straight 6 with no turbo or nitrous in a 2100 lb car with driver). It has a total of $6000 in the drivetrain and $1000 in modded suspension and it is just as reliable and comfortable as my Z06 and actually gets more thumbs up and crowd appeal also. It turns 6 seconds avg faster track times than my Z06 and Vipers (with me driving both for a fair comparison), 2+ seconds faster avg on modded suspension/engine Vipers/Vettes and .7+ second faster 1/4 mile times (with nitrous and drag radials it bested a 10.12 at 154). It just plain hauls azz.
While its no supercar it performs well for less than 8K invested in the whole car.
I have a blast driving the 240z especially on the street, in fact more of a blast than my Z06 most of the time. You dont need alot of money in a car to have a fast car. Yes I suppose it is a ricer, but I dont lump it in the with the Honda boys.

Oh hell ya...sure am when my 16 year old son beats up on Z06's in his old Datsun. He doesnt drive my Z06 cause he says its too slow. I dont know many 16 year olds that dont wanna drive a Z06 to school.

Safety Car
This may be a little off topic but.... I was driving my daily driver, a Magnum with a Hemi, on the highway. I normaly drive 80 to 85 on the high way but I don't weave through traffic and I pay attention. I saw a ricer in my rear view mirror weaving and cutting people off. I moved into the center lane to give him room. As he comes up next to me, I see him look at the Hemi badge, and he sticks next to me accelerating and slowing to get next to me again. You may think that is rediculas, a lot of cars will beat the very heavy Hemis but you would be shocked by how many times I get challenged in it. I just waved and said to myself, my Z06 would blow you away, and I went my merry way. If I had been in the Z06 I would have just said that I know I could blow you away. I think it's better to know you are the man and not flaunt it than show you are the man and maybe regret it.
