Default MTI Six Shooter Question

I just installed "the new" MTI Six Shooter yesterday. It rattles pretty bad when I get up to about 2500 rpm. I ran it without the shift **** and it still rattled. I took it out, reinstalled it and it still does the same thing. This is just a shot in the dark, but could the rattling have anthing to do with the fact that I have the Anti-Venom mod done? I am ready to put the stock shifter back in and call it a day!

I was on their "waiting list" for nine weeks. I guess you will have to be patient. As far as getting ahold of them -- good luck. I just called them regarding this issue. I am sure I will have to call them back since I have yet to get a call back any of the times I have called them in the past.

I don't want to ruin your Christmas. On a positive note, I have heard that they have hired more people to pick up the slack. I am hoping that my problem is something that is just a quick fix.

I've been on "the waiting list" since October. I was hoping Brown would bring to me by Christmas also. On a positive note, "gorillavet" was a beta tester for the six shooter and he had nothing but positive things to say. You could probably do a search for his feedback. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

I just got off the phone with MTI they are saying that there is a break-in period of about 1000 miles. The rattling should diminish after that.

...usually after you put miles on a car, parts begin to rattle (not get quiet), but I hope you get it resolved. There's been high expectations for that shifter. If you're like me, 1,000 miles could be 2 years.

Since I waited 9 weeks to get it, I am not willing to give up on it yet. This is my everyday driver, so 1000 miles is probably about a month or so.

My car is a weekend cruiser and 1,000 miles may take months.....I am going and put my head under the pillow and hide under the covers until this goes away.

Default I have not had any problems

I am a very happy customer of MTI and when I put my shifter in, I made sure that the boot that goes on the end of the shifter(closest to the shift fork and trans) was securly in place and actually put a little grease on the inside of it and I have no rattles at all. it is smooth and quiet for me. I love it. I have had my since August and not a problem at all. I hope everything works out for you. azmusclecar you can peek out from under your pillow, because you will love your new toy.

I have had not one but three six shooter shifters. None of these had any buzzing or noise under heavy throttle. I do use a heavy shift **** not a light plastic **** but I expect this has only a small effect. Frankly, I expect it's all in the installation. This is a tight well made product that will remain tight and precise throughout it use.

Congratulations. I guess you lucked out with your three Six Shooters. I ran it without a **** and it still rattled, so that isn't it either. As far as it being in the installation -- I sincerely doubt I installed it wrong. I went exactly by the instuctions provided to me by MTI. This isn't rocket science, it is essentially a four bolt installation. Why is there an assumption that this issue stems from something on the user's part, just because there are Six Shooters that do not rattle? In the C5 Forum post, the official response from MTI stated that they have received varied feedback, and some shifters rattle, some do not. I guess I am not the only one with this problem. I am not saying anything negative about the quality of the shifter, as a matter of fact, I like the way it shifts, just not the rattlling at 2500 rpm and above. I am not sure what there is to "break in", but I will give it some time and see...

I can only comment from the standpoint of who installed all my shifters. MTI Racing the folks who helped develop the shifter. I guess you have to look at it from the manufacture's view. If you make a product that works the variable is going to be installation. Now don't get me wrong I am not slamming anyone who installed this unit but that is a huge variable that no manufacture has any control over. I know many folks who have this shifter and they have no noise problems. I also know folks who have minor noise problems at WOT but they went away after a few 100 miles. I am not awear of anyone having real noise problems at only 2500 rpm. I truly hope this clears up for you with a little break in.

Default MTI Six-Shooter - No Problems !

I have one installed in my 2000 FRC. I'm really surprised to hear complaints about the shifter "rattling". Mine is as solid as a rock. When I ordered it last spring it was delivered in about 10 days !

No rattles. No shipping delays. I'm pleased.
