i just got the dreaded service column lock message yesterday morning while starting my car. I had it towed to Courtesy Chevrolet where they performed the recall on it.
the problem is that now..my keys feels a bit stuck when i put it in the ignition and turn, also the hole that my key goes into doesn't seem to be aligned correctly. do you think that this is a easy fix? After what happened this time i'm not too eager to take my z06 back in to fix the problem.
First off, I wouldn't of had the recall done at all. I would've made the stealership unlock it, and installed the column lock bypass and be done with it. The recall has proven itself time and time again, to do more harm than good.
See if you can get it taken off and order a column lock bypass module from corvettes of houston or thunder racing immediately!
When one of the recalls is performed, and I'm not sure which one you've had done, they take the locking plate out of the steering column so that it physically can't lock up. To do this, I'm sure they had your console apart. Maybe they screwed something up while diggin around in it?
