Ok, so my wife is starting to complain about how much my targa top leaks when it rains (wimp, its just a little water!).
How much/how hard is it to fix/get fixed? I figure I have to replace all the weather stripping on the top, and the stuff on the car itself where the top mounts.
Just looked the other day at one of the supporting vendors who had the weather stripping for the coupe. Wish I could remember who... If you search, you will find it. Good luck... Just found ECKLER'S, they have a section just on weather stripping.
I have a 1998 Coupe(Targa top) that leaks bad. I live in Arizona where it doesn't rain that much so I have never been too concerned with it. However I have two new Vette Essentials seat covers on the way and I don't want them geting wet. So I ordered the front, rear and side weatherstripping for the car from Ecklers. I paid $24 and joined their "restoration club" and I then saved 10% on the purchase which was about sixty dollars. With shipping and everything, I paid about $640. When my seat covers arrive after Christmas, I am going to have the covers and the seals installed by a professional shop so that I am sure that it is done right. I am hopeful that it will no longer leak water when the new seals are in. I'll let you know how it works when I get it done if you are still interested. DAN.
I'd suggest before you spend $$ on new stripping take the top off and treat the rubber with dialetric grease. This may rejuvinate it enough to seal better. NAPA has this stuff. I use it every fall. I'll tell ya though it can make the windows a mess for a while but I think it makes a difference so it's worth the hassle. .02 deposited.

sadly, you overestimate the condition of my weather stripping
it has great big gaps in it where pieces appear to have been torn off, lol. I dont think grease is going to help it

Bummer... If you're going to keep the car keep the grease idea in mind. Makes a difference. Merry Christmas.
