I'm currently looking for a cam for my '03 Z06. I'm looking for a cam with a noticable lope, yet nothing extreme. I want it be streatable but with a cam that makes people look twice. Also, I don't want to mess with valve springs, heads, pushrods, etc. I just bought a house I'm fixing up so I'm rather tight on funding! (Lowes is seeing most of my loot right now).
Current engine mod:
Breathless Vortex CAI
BB Bullets
Others:
Short-throw
CAGS Delete
Before the cam went in, I'd probably also add a power duct. I wouldn't tune untill all the new toys were installed.
Anyhow, any advice on a cam that meets these needs (MS3, LG cam) is greatly appreciated.
The cams you have listed will definately need a spring upgrade and probably a slightly longer pushrod. If you didn't want to go extreme I would choose a TR224 (Thunder Racing). Lot of guys on Ls1Tech swear by this little cam. You could probably get away with some 918 springs with the 224 and hardened PR's are always a good idea. They're $100 new but you can find them floating around for cheap.
PR's for sale (These might not be the length you need/Your vendor will set you up though)
BTW, you will need tuning with any cam for it to perform to it's potential. Allow around $400-500 for this unless you have a friend who can hook you up.
A budget cam set-up is probably going to run you $1k if you install yourself.

i have the TR224/Comp 918/Hardened Pushrods setup and I love it. Idles smooth and you very nice gains throughout the powerband. Check my sig for numbers and 1/4 mile times with this cam and mods on my 01 Z06.
