Default what would you do?

I am curious to what others would do , or what others think is a better deal. I am looking at 2 vettes, the price is the same. Vette 1 is an 04 silver convertible 9700 miles with every option sports seats, select ride, 12 disc cd changer ect...One owner window sticker, bill of sales all papers and documentation.

Vette 2 is an 05 coupe Black with 7000 miles also very well maintained. Has some options no navagation. Also one owner with all paper work and documentation.

Either car is available in my area for 35K. I use to drive a 98 vert and like the idea of another vert, but I also like the C-6.

Give me your thoughts Thanks

I'd go with the 2004 convertible C-5 which, in it's last year of production, is the most refined C-5 out there. I haven't heard about a lot of bugs in the 1st year C-6 but with 85% if the parts new (according to GM) I'm sure there have to be some. On the other hand, if you are looking for a car to keep forever and put in your will then the C-6 could end up being more valuable as a first year issue. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I am biased towards convertibles. 4 of my 5 Vettes are convertibles and the other one was an impulse buy (1974 454 T-top).

It all depends on whether you want a C5 or C6, and only you can answer that.

When I bought my car I was ready to buy new, so I went and drove several C6s. I also looked at and drove C5s they had in their used lots. I decided I liked the C5 better. To me, the C5 is the better car, but thats based on my criteria. Yours will undoubtedly be different.

If I were to buy a C6 with automatic, I would *definitely* get an '06 with the paddle shifters. I loved that!

I'd go with the vert, but I'm partial to them.

Drive it for a year or 2 and then if you still feel the inclination for a C6 sell the vert and get an 06 or 07

Do you want a convertible or a coupe? Both cars would be a good choice, but IMO the loaded vert is a better buy.

Default C5 vs C6

No nav, forget it. If the C6 is a stick and the vin # is below xxx15000. It's got trans problems and the front crank bolt problem. That's just a start. If it starts(no pun intended). Get the C5 convertible. Better Corvette all day, every day. I like the C6....but the C5 is the better car. Just my .02. Good Luck. Happy Holidays.>George

Do you want the latest and greatest? If so the C6 is for you. Prefer a 'vert and can live with last years model, then the C5. The '04 C5 is a highly refined model. The '05 C6 is the first year of a new model. I would expect more problems with the '05 then with the '04. The '04 is a 'vert while the '05 is the latest and greatest, but just a coupe.

But, when it comes down to it, only you can make the decesion.

04 vert it will be. Lots of great ideas fom fellow forum members. I guess my feelings is that a vert will be easier to sell in 2 or 3 years, then maybe a newer C-6. Thank you all for your thoughts and happy holidays to all

I would go with the C5 Vert. It is better optioned, is a convertible and silver is a much easier color to keep looking good. Plus the C5s are better looking than the C6, well at least in my opinion.

I would tell you to go with the newer car, now that said black will kill you. You can not keep them clean, silver looks clean even when dirty. You are lucky to have such a problem, good luck

I'd buy the C5... Has the C6 had it's roof fixed yet? If not...
