Below are pics of the new mods and clear coat. The weather has turned cool here in Arizona, in the mid fifties, so I though it would be a good time to buff out some of the scratches. Started sanding with 1500 and as I went I kept seeing some deep scratches, pits, marks and whatever else and was not sure if buffing would taken them out or not. My wife said, since its partly sanded why not re-clear the whole car. So I stopped using the 1500 and went to 1000 paper and sanded the car and as a final sand I used a liquid sanding compound with a fine grit gray Scotch Bright pad. A friend has a body shop so in the booth the car went and sprayed and entire gallon of clear. Due to the cool weather it took over two days for it flash out and dry but was finally ready for sanding with 1500 and buffing. When buffing I noticed that there were a few “fish-eyes” on the hood and roof probably from water in the air line. The hood was not much of a problem but the roof was something else and had to be re-cleared. In the mean time I purchased some engine dress up items and decided to etch (used an airbrush and very fine sand) the flames on the fuel rail covers and the dragons on the wheel well covers. They came out really nice. All in all I’m very happy with the results.
I love the flames! I have them on my car in pearl red, but they don't show up as well as yours. If I had it to do over again, I'd do them a little darker. Your car is beautiful.
