I recently googled up "autocross" and the Evolution Autocross School came up. I am looking to upgrade my autocross skills this spring and their web site looks pretty good. Has anyone ever attended one of their sessions and if so what did you think. I am considering a one day school being held in Cincinnati in early April. My wife and I have a 10 day cruise from the shores of Lake Superior to Naples FL and back in the Z06 that can take us thru Cincinnati. I mention this part only because should I ask my wife to veg out in Cincinnati motel while I play race car driver it really needs to worth it. Any other Autocross training opportunities for the Great Lakes area in April and May?
The Evolution school is one of the best, even very experienced drivers take it from time to time and find that they improve. Their two day school is even better, but the one day is really good too...
If you are planning on doing more than an occasional local event, you should plan on hanging out on the Autocross and Road Racing pages of the Forum. Lots of good info on both car setup and driving there...
If you are planning on doing a the Cincinnati school, plan on taking your car in to Raftracer and getting it corner weighted and aligned just before the school. A good way to make it even better, and not chew up much rubber at the school.
There are also lots of test and tune sessions at Grissom early in the season, as well as several schools. NWOR (Northwest Ohio Region) of the SCCA usually does a school early in the season as do many of the other regions like Detroit or Ft Wayne. NCCC and several other SCCA regions usually do test and tune events where you can get a lot of seat time and run till you get tired of running. Raftracer (NCCC) and Marcus Merideth (Detroit SCCA) usually organize smaller, not open to the public test, and tune events so you may talk to them and reserve a place in one of them.
Finally, get on the mailing list for GASS (Great American Solo Series). Their event newsletter has most Great Lakes local events on it, and if you want you can run 20 weekends a year in the Great Lakes area.

Thanks a bunch, this is great info, I really appreciate it. I realized after I posted this thread I was probably not in the best place on the forum. I'm trying to learn my way around AutoX, HPDE and CF all at the same time, it's a pretty steep curve.
No connection between the Mitsubishi EVO and the Evolution autocross school.
Another vote for the Evolution school. As Solofast says, many "veterans" take it as a refresher. I did the Phase I in Cincy last year and it was an excellent experience.
I took it about 4 months after I started seriously autocrossing and doing track events. It "turned on the lightbulb" for my driving, so to speak. It's not just good for autocross, I think the car awareness skills they teach correlate directly to HPDE and defensive street driving. It's the best money I've spent, although it is certainly expensive.
I've attended the Evolution school and plan (if schedule permits) to take the one in Cinti again this year. I've also had Danny (Raftracer) work on my car. He knows his stuff, both wrenching and how to carve corners. He was also one of the instructors at the school.
