i want to get one of ee tunnel plates but dont know which one to get. i either want the 1/4 aluminum or the 10 ga stainless steel one, both with the thermal abs. i have an ae o3 vert and am going to have my lg street series headers put on this spring. which one do i get???? thanx brad
I purchased and just installed the Elite 1/4" with Abs insulation and it was a snap to install and I hope to see how well it works in a week or two. I had a lot of heat coming up off my long tube headers and exhaust and insulated the car for road noise and heat but still had a hot center console. The Elite tunnel plate is supposed to add some stiffness to the car and hold back the heat better. I am not too certain on the heat issue since there is still a sizeable air gap behind the clutch bell housing for hot engine air to run into but the exhaust pipes heat baking should be eliminated.

Without a doubt, the 1/4" aluminum Tunnel Plate is the most popular selection. All the heat shielding benefits of the stainless with more stiffness.
I only do street driving (no autocrossing or racing) and the 1/4" in plate made a significant difference in stiffening the structure of the car. It virtually eliminated the bump steer.
