This morning while installing my new side screens I came across these...
"Ahh," I thought to myself. "These must be the udders I read about on the forum not too long ago. I can see why they're called that."
Remembering that there were 3 of these and that they are evidently important to the life of the wiper motor, I decided to clean them out. Removal was quite easy because they're a soft rubber and hang from the car by a lip. This was what I got out of them (size 11 foot for reference)...
Nasty!! So, next time you've got the car jacked up and the driver's side wheel removed, do yourself and your car a favor- clean the udders.
You'll be glad you did!
BTW- some folks may be able to access these by reaching down through the top through the engine compartment. Not me- I'm not a contortionist.
Man, that's a lotta junk! I was able to get at mine from the top, and found a lot of crap in them. My car is garage kept, every day! Check those udders!
would it hurt the car to cut the bottom of the udders off so crap wouldnt get stuck in there anymore? Have to check mine also!!
You should do a search on the previous post that acerider mentioned. Someone posed the same question as you and evidently, there is a problem with cutting them. I recall it has something to do with air flow.
Did mine last weekend.I have a 00 Torch Red FRC.Went from the top only got a little bloody .Good reason for a red car.
I don't think they are supposed to be hard all the way to the top are they?
