Default Good Price?

I work as a salesman at a Honda Dealership and I got a price to mount, demount old tire sensors, balance, 4 wheel align, and lower for my new wheels and tires that are going on the vette. They told me that it would run me about $95 for everything plus tax. Havent had this done in a while and it sounds like a good deal, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks, for any CF wisdom that is offered.

That would equate to about $25 a tire, actually sounds a little high if they are off the Vette. Then again if they do a good job and don't bung the rims and do a high tech road balance the peace of mind might outshine the price!

Thanks,Matt

You're not quite clear with your question, but it sounds like a heck of a deal.

Wheels and tires are not off the car, and it is a High tech road balance machine. As far as being clear on my question, it is just me wanting to know if Im getting a good deal.

Sure is a good deal. But do these Honda guys even know how to jack up a C5 without damaging it? Lowering it too? You work there, if you have confidence in them then go for it. I would rather pay more and go to someone with some history with corvettes.

If you're saying mount, balance and alignment for $95.00 I'd say you have a deal!

Im going to print directions on how to jack up car, as well as how to lower. Im pretty confident with the tech that is going to be doing to work, he has worked here for 10 years, and the owner of the store lets him work on his viper (he owns a dodge store) as well as many high dollar Honda's. I was kind of worried about them taking the tire pressure sensors out, but he says he does it all the time since most new hondas have TPMS.

Make sure that you have the alignment specs for a C5 or for a Z06 if that's the direction you choose. Also, I would make sure that they have jacking pucks so that the car is not raised by the rocker panels - they will crack.

The alignment specs can be found in the sticky at the top of the page. Jacking pucks can be made out of an eyebolt and a hockey puck easily and cheaply.

The $95 deal sounds good as long as everything is done properly. If things get hosed up - then it's no bargain to pay for damage and get it redone. Good luck!

Not to sound stupid, but what are the differences between zo6 and c5 alignment specs. Im going to be going with Z07 wheels, should I be going with z06 alignment specs?q

The Z06 set up is a little more agressive and slightly better for track usage. You can compare the numbers and see what's different. Also - being more agressive means that the tires tend to wear a little faster - in my experience on the inside edge. So if you don't plan on doing an HPDE (high performance driving events, like track or autocross), I would stick with the standard C5 specs. Having Z06 wheels really has no bearing on which set of specs you're going to use.

And I don't think of you as stupid for asking the question.

If they actually do all that and a quality alignment, better jump on that. Good deal.
