Here are a couple of pics of the one I have. Was referred to a private individual from a local corvette club. I added the authentic C5 emblem.

Just gotta thank JDs00PewterCoupe for sending me a template that he traced from his own battery compartment cover. 
Recd it yesterday in the mail, and today I bought some clear plastic from Lowe's, and some Dupli-color paint from Walmart. Got mine cut out on the band saw, dremel saw, and drill. Paint is drying now, but it looks lots lighter than the cap, due to no base coat behind it. I think I need a base coat, which I will have to go buy tomorrow. If it comes out right, I will post a pic when it is done! But thanks again to Jack/JDs00PewterCoupe for his generousity!

At the risk of throwing a monkey wrench into this idea, did battery covers come with the cars originally?
If not, perhaps GM felt it would create a heat problem for the battery, and didn't make a cover for it.

It just cleans up the look a bit.
No it was not OE, but especially in a "show and shine" it tidy's up the engine bay and makes it look a bit more complete covering up a less-than-attractive part of the car.
