Default Am I too picky?????

I'm looking for my first vette, the CFO has granted permission to spend $30k +/-, so I figure I should be able to find something I like. I'm looking for ~2002, vert, M6, 1SB and fairly low miles (< 25K). So far, I've found four Millenium Yellows (great color, but they scream LOOK AT ME!!!!) and black interior (HOT!!!), a couple 00 - 01's (no HUD), several triple black's and a couple reds (my brother has a red, so thats out)

What I want is blue / tan (oak?), but they are all autos. There are a couple out there, but more than 400 miles away.

Am I being unrealistic in my search or do I just need to wait? I want to get something before the boss changes her mind. (no comments about my manly parts please )

Keep looking. If you want that color combo, then keep trying until you find it. Don't give up too soon and settle. It's out there somewhere. As far as your budget goes, I think you should be able to find a suitable vehicle for about that. Good luck w/your search!

However 400 miles is not very far to go for the "right" Vette!

If I were in the market for a Vette and there was one sitting 400 miles away, I'd be THERE!
Rather than wait and or take a chance on missing out! (for the reason you mentioned above) .

Don't settle for any thing less than what you want. Personally 400 miles would not stop me. Get pictures, swap e-mails with the owner. Have an inspection done. If everything checks out then go pick up you new baby.

Believe me you won't mind the trip there, (anticipation), or back home (gratification).

Good Luck!! And welcome to the forum!

I flew 1200 miles when I found the Nassau Blue baby I'd been looking for and drove her home. It was a blast. So don't let the distance keep you from finding the right car. Odds are the perfect car you are wanting you'll have to travel to get it.

I wouldn't hesitate to look all over the country. Be prepared though, while searching you may find that other color combos start to look good. I changed my "gotta have" color many times before I found my current vette.

There is no such thing as too picky when looking for your Corvette! You know what you want, you just have to be patient and hold out until the right one comes along. However, you probably should be prepared to travel when the right one comes along. Some color combinations are harder to find - we looked for 2 years before finding ours.

You might look for an '04 Commemorative. They come in that color combo, which can otherwise be hard to find. You might have to kick in a couple bucks more.

I have an 04 CE vert 6spd and love it. No offense, but I sure as heck hope you can't find one in your price range. If you want to spend in the upper 30's? A 2002 should be possible though if you are patient. And like others have said, 400 miles is not too far with some phone work, pics etc beforehand. Good luck and don't settle.

My 1st vette was 1200 miles away. I flew to pick it up and had 1200 smiles home. If the car you want is out there and you can get to it I would say go. Just make sure you have it checked out first. Someone here on the forum might even step up and help you look at it. It worked for me
Good Luck

I couldn't find the car I wanted here in L.A. So, I bought one off of eBay and had It shipped from PA. I think it was 2500 miles or so. The car was spotless, just as described with 5700 miles on it. Now has 16K fantastic miles on her, with plans for many more!!!

Good luck with your search...

If you narrow your search down to one exterior color, blue, that seems o.k. However setting your mind on a specific exterior and interior color, blue on tan, seems to picky too me. You got to strike will the iron is hot man! That wife of yours is going to get a van if you don't hurry.

You nailed that. I have a Silver 01 Coupe 6 Sp and was looking for a 02-03 Red Coupe with an automatic "for my wife" (yeah right). Ended up with a loaded 04 Yellow Vert with black interior in my driveway on Christmas eve. The only thing that matched my original plan was the auto. The quality, miles, price, and the fact that I fell in love again, forced me to react. And I "used" to hate yellow. Now I can't stay out of it. Go figure. So to answer your question, no - you are not too picky - you will find "her" - she may just may look a little different than originally planned.

Ok, you say that you want something in the area of a 2002 vert, in blue/tan. I did a little research when I bought mine. The blue you are looking for is Electron Blue. It was available in 2002 and 2003. There are only 1902 of these beautiful blue CONVERTIBLE beauties roaming around and I've got mine. Before I get jumped or flamed, I said there were 1902 EB CONVERTIBLES built, this does not include the total production of EB coupes or Z06's. It is CONVERTIBLES ONLY! I'm sure there is an EB/OAK 2002 or 2003 vert out there for you but I think you will have to expand your area of search. I love my color and I get a lot of great compliments on it. Good luck.

IMO, get what you really want. Otherwise you will just end up disappointed. Even if you have to travel 400 miles or so, it will be worth the trip to get the right car.
