Different colored moldings?

I may be buying my dad's silver '01 convertible off him soon, and in due process will have to sell off my '86 two-tone. Now, my '86 is my first 'vette, and I must say it's gonna sadden me to see it go. The thing I've liked most about it is that it's a original two-tone (metallic grey and black), which leads into my question. I've noticed you can get molding kits for c5's, which my dad's '01 doesn't have, and was wondering if anyone's put on such a kit and painted it a different color than the car body. The thought occurred to me to get such a kit and paint it black, so I'd have a body piece striping the sides of the car, as kind of memento of my '86. If there's any picts of anyone's vette that's done something like this, I'd appreciate seeing them.
(As kind of a side-question on the subject, what's the opinion on those aftermarket stick-on moldings? I know I had one or two aftermarket things like that on my '86 and the adhesives provided didn't work worth a damn.)
Thanks in advance, and here's hopin' to be cruisin' in a c5 soon enough!
For sale/wanted will probably be the place to find original GM mouldings. A lot of guys have removed them. If you do it, post some pics.
That being said, at least one member here has done it and got deadpanned pretty soundly by the membership. His was torch red with black BSM's (body side moldings). I saw a millenium yellow coupe with black BSM's once and had to do a serious double-take. Looked kinda' weird.
There are a few here who have painted the coupe roof bow black and tinted the windows dark to create that f-body black canopy look - not bad, really.

EXCEPT
that if your car color and your BSM are close, then I think it might look kinda nice. ie Black w/ silver BSM or silver w/ black BSM.
I haven't seen this combo but it is YOUR car so do what YOU want.

Also, seeing as the molding was an original GM design element it's something I feel a bit more comfortable going with rather than some of those aftermarket body kits or some of the rather weird paint schemes I've seen.
(It's kind of like some of the hockey stick and billboard stuff we've considered for the '70 Barracuda convertible we're restoring.)
All things aside, it's not something I'm gonna jump into doing right away after getting the car, seeing as getting the car to begin with is gonna be a good chunk of change spent. I won't be wanting any excuses for spending money for a while afterwards.

Not another BSM thread!
