Steep learning curve and old school. But works very well, if you can master it

If you picked it up used, and it's not a full unlimited-use tuner's version, it won't work on your car. Individual copies are licensed to only one VIN. You can find out by plugging it in and just trying to read your PCM. If it's been used previously on another car, you'll get a message that it doesn't recognize the VIN. I think you can add a second VIN license to the software for about $250, though. A full copy new is about $450 - At least that's what it was a couple of years ago.

If you just bought a new copy, then as EG said, it's a pretty steep learning curve. And it's not at all intuitive - Kinda like the difference between the old DOS vs. Windows in the PC world.

Good luck!

Dave

What Tuning program are you going to use on your "stock" modified engine?? BTW, I have really enjoyed the step by step progress on your build. I wonder if someone could get it in print in a magazine?

I use EFI Live 7.x with a LC1 wideband O2

Sure, if you want to buy a VIN license - they are $99 from EFI themselves

Can we do that on-line while we are there? If so, I'll let you tell me more about it when we get there.

Ls1 edit, is VERY crude, it's the least capable tuning program compared to Hp tuners and Efi-Live. It is effective, but you can't do things like SD tunes and the Auto-VE. But, since you've allready got your Ls1 edit, have a little fun, also be careful when uploading the tune, LS1 edit can crash your pcm. The newer programs are much faster at uploading, and are less likely to crash the pcm should there be any problems with uploading the tune.
