tire sensor problems/question
I've got a '00 coupe running on the original sensors. Recently, I've noticed a huge discrepancy between the sensor readings and the tire gauge readings from the air pump at the gas station. This discrepancy is at both cold and hot temperatures.
For example, yesterday, the sensors were reading 25 PSI (cold) on the front tires. But the gauge at the air pump was reading 32 PSI. I took a reading after the tires were warm and the sensors were at 28PSI while the air pump gauge was at 34 PSI. Just for kicks, I added 2 PSI of air to the tires and drove home...the sensors continued to read 28 PSI the whole way. I also tried re-training the sensors but that didn't have any effect on the readings.
This is a recent thing...the sensors used to be in good agreement with the air pump gauge. The discrepancy has gotten progressively worse over the last year.
Is this a sign that my sensors (or the sensor battery) is dying?
I would guess the two readings will be alot closer vs. a service station air pump gauge which usually is not very accurate.

Remember though - if you wind up deciding to replace the TPS, you have to get the older style more expensive ones. They are not cross compatible.
