Diy Thread On This?
I am looking at replacing my light bulbs. I rarely use my highs, so I am looking at just doing my lows. From the look of it, the headlights look challenging, so if anyone has a thread/post/link for a DIY on this, that would help out a lot.
Also, what bulb do you recommend and where did you purchase it.
Thanks in advance,
Micah

It was kind of a tight squeeze to put my arm in to change the bulb. I used silvania silverstars. Much better lighting!

It's not that hard to do, it's just tight. I have Sylvania Silverstars that i bought at Pep Boys, and i love them. Now they have the Silverstar ultras. They are supposed to be better, but i do not have any experience with them. If i remember correctly the Silverstar Ultras on on sale at PepBoys right now for $29.99 for a twin pack. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions if needed.

Thanks I will check out PEP BOYS, with the space being so tight, is there any thing to watch out for so I don't break/screw it up?

The previous owner did a bulb upgrade on my Z. I still have the box somewhere so if you want to come by one night I can give you the brand and show you how they compare to stock.

It's not hard to change but if you have large hands it can be tight. First raise the barndoors manually then remove the black plastic shrouds around the headlight assemblies - There are several phillips screws in each one. Next determine which socket is the low beam by turning on the lights. Then all you have to do then is reach in twist the socket assembly until it releases. Maybe someone else can chime in on the direction but I thought I twisted towards me to release. Old ones out and new ones in and your good to go. Don't touch the bulb glass itself. Wearing disposable latex gloves will prevent this.
I tried the new Silverstar Ultras.... Nice improvement over stock. Hope this helps.

If you're going to change out the light bulbs......
This will help you out. Raise the lights and turn off the ignition key. There is a plastic black plastic shroud (cover) that surrounds the light housing. Remove the 4 screws that hold it in and then be careful to slide the shroud out towards you. There is a little alignment slot that needs to be cleared, before you can remove it.
After you've gotten the shroud off, you will see an alignment post, for the hood, right next to the lights. If you slightly loosen the top locking nut, and then unscrew the post itself, you will have a lot of room to get your hand into the space behind the light assembly. Unscrew the lightbulb socket and remove the bulbs.
Repeat these steps and you're "done"..... When you screw back in the posts, screw them down until the locking nut "bottoms out". Loosen the post a 1/4 turn and then screw down the locking nut and the alignment will be perfect.
Good luck
