Default Leaks More Leaks

Alright I tried the dielectric grease on all the weatherstripping about 3 days ago....It started pouring while at work today, and when I got into the car the seats were wet, the floorboard was wet and while driving home i was getting dripped on from the top front corner by the top of the pillers on both sides...the weatherstripping doesnt look messed up.....Any input?

That sucks sorry to hear that, all I can say is that it gives me flash backs to my first C4 that I bought with 179,000 miles on it

I haven't heard to many stories about this type of issue with the C5's. sorry I can't give you more help.

Default Leaks?

Can't say that I've ever had one.. Yes it's a garage queen, never been out in the rain and only lightly hosed on wash day! Sorry, I hope you solve your problem.

I must have a self repairing weather stripping, first few months I had it a light rain came and I saw a few drops. I was pretty dissappointed and thought I'll take care of it later since I'm already home.

I totally forget and next time there's a HUGE downpour and I'm on the highway. First thing I think of is greeeeeat...my passenger is gonna get soaked. Instead she stayed dry ( )

Hasn't leaked since. Hope you have better luck.

Then again I just rememembered I might've had a different roof on both times...hmm...

There is an adjustment for the window tip-in.... the instructions have pics which won't paste in here, if you want the complete instructions send me your EMail addy and I'll send em to ya;

Tools Required:
#6 Inverted TORX® Socket
10mm socket

1. Position the window fully up.
2. Remove the large access plug from under the front of the door.
3. Loosen the window regulator front channel mounting nut.
4. Remove the reflector from the trim panel
5. Loosen the jack screw jam nut.
6. Adjust tip in with the jack screw. Turn the jack screw clockwise to tip the window outward. Turn the jack screw counterclockwise to tip the window inward. One turn of the screw equals approximately 1 N·m (0.04 in) change at the top of the window.
7. Tighten the jack screw jam nut.
8. Lower the window.
9. Tighten the window regulator channel front mounting nut.
10. Raise the window and check the alignment.
11. Install the access plug under the front of the door.
12. Install the reflector in the door trim panel.

That's the only other way I know of to possibly get the leak to stop short of just trying some new weatherstripping (rather expensive fix). Hopefully the window adjustment will work for you.

It took some time but I came up with the perfect solution. Don't drive it in the rain.

My passenger side leaks into the headliner (gets soaked when raining). Haven't gotten a chance to take a hard look at it, but I think before I bought it, the previous owner may have complained about wind noise, so the stupid dealership put a lot of black RTV into the front and rear of the plastic trim piece. I think they blocked the drain hole on the passenger side. Have to get out there and take a look one of these days, as I drive my Z06 in the rain (prefer to drive it over my 86 Monte Carlo SS in the rain, due to the lack of traction control and ABS in the Monte Carlo).

I had a F body vert once and I couldn't ever stop the leaks in it so I had to always carry a towel.

Well at least they are consistant! This is my fifth vette I've had C3s, a C4 and now a C5 and they ALL had or developed a leak at the windows at some point. I always blamed the removable top, I wonder if the FRCs are having a problem?

Although I do not have a problem with this now, I am amassing a bunch of tips and ideas for the future---just in case.

So if you could email me the pix. too, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

If you could send them to me as well. My Z06 leaks bad, and if I hit the wind right, I can feel the cool breeze.

I've got an 04 coupe which I experienced the same problem and thought it was the weatherstripping. Took to the dealership and found out there is weatherstripping in the removable top that was bad. They replaced the weatherstripping in the top and it has been ok for the past 6 months.
