Default Glass Targa Top Scratches

I bought my C5 not too long ago and the top has a ton of scratches that are visible from the inside. Looks like someone may have tried to polish the top with a freaking metal brush. Anyone had this problem before and/or know of a way to fix it?

Unfortunately, there is no fix. The scratches will not buff out. If it bothers you that much, better get another top. Good luck...

Your best bet would be to have new acrylic put in your frame. I had it done about 5 years ago in our C4. Here is a link to the company that did mine. They did a great job back then. They do C3, C4 and C5 tops

I got my 03 msgm in september and drove it with the body colored top for a while, never noticed any scratches on the glass top until I put it on a month ago. Mine are really bad swirl marks .

When I got mine it was sun beat to hell and had scratches, me and my dad wet sanded it for about 1 1/2 hours then buffed it clean with some special rubbing compound, then buffed it again with a special wax (they werent normal car products but wax/rubbing compound for a boat), but it looks 99% better, we could have done better but were pressed for time.

I had a bad experience with them. This was a few years back when I had my C4. I ordered a top from them and it did not fit, it was actually 1 1/2" short width wise. There was no way it was going to fit. Anyway, they did not believe me so I sent it back and asked for a refund. Well, I had to pay shipping costs and then they charged me a 25% re-stocking fee on top of everything else. As you can see, I paid for shipping to my house, and then back to them, plus re-stocking – which was a couple hundred dollars. I was not very happy with them and they were very impolite on the phone. I will never order anything from them again. Just my 2 cents

Either buy one on C5 Parts, E-Bay or Astro Tops.

Mine is not perfect, but I use Zaino Z5 on it... seems to help hide them.

No fix that I know of - some have painted the glass top the body color but not sure how well it would hold up over time. Other than that, best bet is to just find a used one that is in better shape.

That sucks. Anyone know why/how this happens in the first place?

Well I have had the same problem. I used clay on the top and then used Eagle One Nanu wax. Realy helped. Did not get all of them out but the wax sure did cover a lot of the scratches. You have to get right down to the top to see them. You can pick up both at O Rileys.

If the scratches are only visible from the inside it wouldn't bother me. But you could get an insert like the ones that block the sun from coming in.

Has anyone ever painted their glass top?

PS: Where do you get the shade to put up there from?

Painted mine black two years. Had to do it twice but finally got it done. Still looks like the day it was painted.

I also had a problem with mine. Appeared as if the coating was crizzled, afraid it was going to break into pieces. Anyway, I bought one in excellent condition from ebay for $400. Much cheaper than a new one. I sold the old one to Astro Tops for $175 and they paid the shipping.
