Default Problem Programing Key Fob, Help!!!

I got the fob in yesterday. My car when I got it last week did not have one, I do have a Canada Spec car. Well I followed all the instructions on programing and even re-syncing the fob, it works good up untill I start the car then after that it wont work till I do one of the above again. It does have a fresh battery (in the fob), any idea what could be wrong?? I do have a 00 coupe and the fob # is AB00216T

I don't have mine with me at work, so I can't check the part number. 2000 fobs were a one-year only model, so it must match the car. Do a search on the forum to find the correct 8-digit part number on the back and make sure it matches. Other than that, I don't know what is causing your problem.

I ask because I have heard many folks that run into this type of symptom have replaced the FOB, and reported that the new FOB fixed the problem. Do you have a second FOB - if so, can I assume it is working normally?

Default key fobs

For a 2000 you can use any fob with FCCID AB00216T. This includes the passive fobs for 97-99 (although you won't get the passive function) or the non-passive fob made for the 2000 C5. I have a 98 C5 and am using both kinds of fobs on it. My original fobs went flaky (wouldn't keep sync with the car) and I got the used ones on fleebay for about $60 or so each. MAKE SURE that if you do this they are RETURNABLE and try them out ALL OF THEM for at least a week to make sure they WORK. Programming is easy and when you do so the DIC asks for the next fob. You can have 3 fobs on a 97-99 and I think that goes for the 2000 also. 1st fob is for memory 1, 2nd Memory 2, and 3rd for Memory 3, which is holding both memory 1 and 2 buttons down at the same time. Default key fobs

Could be outer space aliens but I would try another fob and see if you have the same results. Had 2 bad fobs. Electronics in the car MIGHT FAIL but I would find another fob and check it out. BIGHANK

That's the same number on the back of my '00 FOB. Could be that the fob is bad. See if you can find another owner with a working fob and try and program it to your car. If it works, then you know your fob is bad. It could also be the receiver in the car, so you might want to try and program the one you just got to another car and see if it works.

Default programming fob

Steps are in the owners manual.

Retrieved these from another post. Look right to me.

1. Turn the ignition to ON.
2. Turn the radio to OFF.
3. Press the RESET button on the driver information center (DIC) in order to clear any IPC warning messages.
4. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank.
5. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds.
6. Press the OPTIONS button until FOB TRAINING message is displayed
7. Press the RESET button in order to begin the programming sequence. 8. The message HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed.
9. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first transmitter for 15 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is programmed and when to proceed to the next. Repeat this procedure for each additional transmitter or press the OPTIONS button to exit.
