I have a C5 with a cd player. Worked fine until about a week or so ago.
When I place a CD into the player, it spins a few seconds and then displays "ERR." This happens will any CD - even the cleaning CD that I tried . What's happening? Am I SOL - need a new player?
If you're talking about the CD changer in the trunk, make sure the discs are loaded in the carriers properly and that the entire cassette goes into the changer properly (and then close the changer door). The owners manual also gives some hints.
I play burned disks almost exclusivley in mine and it works perfectly. Its probably your deck. Just remember that if you get another deck thats different from the stock one, you have to change the speakers too. The bose ones dont work unless you use the stock head unit. Hope this helps.

Maybe a bad cd is hung up in your changer. Try taking out all your cd's and let it try to access the disk holder. If the changer is bad, you can buy one and replace it very easily. You don't have to mess with the head unit or the speakers. Just replace the changer itself. I've seen lots for sale, I bet someone on the forum has changed theirs out for a different system and can offer you one. If you have a cd player in the dash unit, make sure it doesn't have a bad cd in it and it's trying to read that instead of your changer. Post what you find. Good luck.
take all the disks out. unplug the cd changer from the cable at the changer. plug it back in. put in several purchased disks. put them in correctly, and put the cartridge in the changer correctly. turn the car on accs. and turn on the stereo. let the disks go for a few before pushing the "cd" button so the thing can read them. then when it shows the little disk symbol push the button. mine did this a few times with burned ones and when i had one trapped in it and this proccess reset it every time. good luck with yours also
