i have searched and i see where some have syphined the fluid out then changed it ,which leads to my next ? .is there not a transmission filter on the c5 .and what happens if i change it to {lets say RP } what about what's in the torgue converter?since i bought this car in june i have no clue as to what the previous owner used .can these be mixed .mine is an 2000 atm
Most dealers and independent shops now have a flushing machine that will change 100% of the fluid in the trans.
The service is around $100.00 but worth every penny. IMHO
The best part is your assured of the correct fill level and don't get any fluid in your face when the pan is dropped.
And no need to change the filter since it is reverse flushed.

just called ammaco they said 22qts to do a complete flush ,this sound right
just called the dealership ,he told me no need to change the filter with only 63,000 on it .the flush will clean it ,and no need in going with synthetic since the quality on transmission fluid is so good why waste the money on it they both will last the same amount of time ..$149.00 for the flush

I would still pull the pan and replace the filter. You will have some metal in the bottom of the pan with that many miles.
The Magnet in the pan bottom will have real fine metal particles on it that should be cleaned out. If your going to the trouble of changing fluid, I would pull the pan and replace the filter.
Corvette is said to have a 100,000 mile, ATF and filter change interval, however, there is an exception to that, noted in the Service Manual. If your C5 is: regularly operated in heavy traffic when the ambient temperature is above 90oF (temperature near the road surface on just a warm day may reach that), operated in hilly or mountainous areas or operated in a high-performance duty cycle, the fluid/filter change interval drops to 50,000 miles. Seems to us that the "normal" duty cycles of many C5s precludes the 100,000 mile change interval. So much for marketing, eh?
This site has a good explaination of changing your fluids.
