Default taillight screws

while installing my new blackout kit, i noticed that my taillight mounting screws are phillips head. this makes tightening them a pain. Does anyone know where i can get the torx screws?

Just how much torque do you intend to apply to plastic lenses?
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I found black-headed torx screws at an Ace Hardware Superstore. I doubt HD or Lowes would have them.

I use Torx screw heads on my tail light lens and install them with my air gun. Just put the gage on 90psi and torque those babies down to 60lbs and they'll never leak again!!

I agree with checking at an Ace Hardware store - the one around here seems to have a better selection than Lowes does.

Most all the Ace Hardware stores around here have a specialty fastener section and you can often find fasteners there that others do not have.

Yep - keep 'em from leakin' - its a metal screw into a plastic nut - you won't be hayyp strippin these!
(ever pull a taillight - you can see right down to the mufflers! So actually, the taillight is 'outside' of the car!

Also got my torx screws from Ace. Didn't like the look of the black heads, So I painted them with touch-up paint to match the body.

Hmmmm.... You may also try NAPA. Call them up and tell 'em what you're looking for.

Shoot me an e-mail. I have a box of silver zinc-plated long enough for your flushmount spacers. I'll hook you up...

If you're not in a hurry, try McMASTER-CARR. They have any type of fastener in metric or SAE in any type of finish or style you can imagine.

While we're on the subject of blackouts and the torx screws...

I'm wondering if all the blackout kits out there are the style that the screw head stick up over the blackout? I recently purchased some blackouts on Ebay from GSCreations and was a bit disappointed, I expected that the screw heads would tuck into the blackout, like I've seen on other applications...

I had to paint my screw heads gloss black, so they wouldn't be so obvious. I'm just wondering what how everyone else's blackout mount and if they're the same...
