Did a search and read all the threads and TSB about it. It seems like I have the exact problem described in the TSB.. when coasting in gear or downshifting, you can hear the metallic rattle or jingle.
My car is a 2k3 w/ 27k miles. I just got it and it's a GM certified used vehicle which means it's supposedly got a 3k mile GM-backed warranty. I took it back to the dealer and they said warranty doesnt cover it because it's not necessarily a failure.
That kinda pissed me off so Im thinking of taking it to another dealer and see if they'll fix under warranty or maybe ill just pay for the repairs..
My 02 makes music as well.. I got my dealership to say they are going to fix it but they want it for several days and to outsource the welding to another shop... obviously I said NO... I'm just going to live with it until I swap out the H-Pipe myself.... good luck with yours though.
I have made a few posts concerning the "Jingles". I have tried all of the tricks i have read here to remedy the problem yet, it still makes noise. I did however find another possible culprit. The oxygen sensor lines going into the exhaust pipe have metal caps on them, which strangely enough, rattle under heavy revs. I wrapped them with some of that fire proof header wrapping & secured it with a couple of hose clamps. That solved most of the noise, but some annoying jingles can still be heard. I had stated earlier in one of my posts that it is a common occurrence in the stock exhaust system, mosty due to the internal turbulence of the gases flowing through the system. The only other option i can think of, is replacing the H-pipe. You could also have your cats gutted, but depending on your states regulations, you may have trouble passing your yearly smog exam.
