Im doing a heads/cam setup over winter for next summer. I called up Texas Speed and they told me about the milled 5.3L Heads that they just did. Did anyone hear anything about those yet the new setup? From what Texas Speed said they should perform better in the mid-range than our Ported LS6 heads. Im going the sleeper route with a stealth Speed Inc. Cam and I'm looking for heads that will not have to give me most HP but will have to have the TQ. I will do a Ported FAST90 and also TB, headers and of course pully and all the bolt on stuff. I need to decide on heads however. My goal is to run 10s on motor since im doing 11s stock. I do have nitrous and will spray down the line when I master driving on motor.
Give me any feedback you can I'm on the virge of pulling the trigger on these 5.3L heads and dont know what to do.
I'm not sure, but I think the 5.3's biggest advantage, other than low cost, is their smaller combustion chambers. This allows for higher compression with less milling. This in turn gives you better PTV clearance, which isn't really a factor if you're going with a "stealth" cam. Texas Speed has done some great combos, but I'd go with aftermarket castings for the most performance gains.

Best heads out there right now are the Trick Flows! They run about $2400 though.People ar making over 500rwhp and around 450rwtq.
If you have the funds go with an aftermarket head such as AFR, Trick Flow, ETP. The AFR's are a proven head with results to back it up. AFR is also a company that stands behind their product. Don't look too much at peak flow numbers either, Flowbenches don't win races.

Talk to the local tuners here in Chicago to also get feedback and look to do a lot of research before you pull the trigger. Have you been to ls1tech.com as the LS1/6 internal motor section has A FREAKIN TON of info on heads and cam installs, etc.

Larry from Speed Inc is a good personal friend of mine, he was the one who piloted the first Stealth Cam in his Z06, I drove the car multiple times and I can tell you that it drove like stock and made great power (close to 420 at the wheels if I remember correctly) with just the cam, long tubes, crank pulley, Blackwing, 3.90 gears and tuning. I think he went 11.30's with this combo on a MT Drag radial in less than ideal weather at the track. I would think with a set of heads and some good driving you should be able to hit the 10's
Plan on a clutch swap as well, Larry had the LS7 clutch in his Z06 with the setup I mentioned above and had zero issues.

[QUOTE=Kamil;1558465956]My thing is a stealth setup I already have the cam. I need Heads and dont know what to do.[/QUOTE
If $ is no object call ECS and or Vengeance Performance as those trick flows are making great power and are hard right now; otherwise can't go wrong with AFR 205 Mongoose heads and TSP and PAtriot Perf and Livernois out of Michigan offer great flowing budget minded LS1/2/6 heads at a great price!
Also, there are always great heads at an affordable price for sale here and even more better deals on ls1tech.com under parts for sale.
Just called cartek. They suggest their 2x heads for the cam Im running. (the cam is a Speed Inc. 007 CAM specs are: 228/222 588/581 114.5LSA) I know a lot of you guys are saying to go with TrickFlows and now its between trickflows and Cartek. What do you think??? With this set up cartek said i will do 10.7-10.8s on 1/4mile. Will I do better with trick flows???
I remember the trick flows from my Ford days, and I remember the valve trains that came with the heads were junk. Can you use stock valvle's, springs and such?

All the Trick Flows need is some Harland Sharp rockers to bolt on and roll.

Those cam specs are very unusual (if accurate) for a n/a LS1/6 h/c combo and if they are accurate I would sell that cam and go with the LGM G5X3 cam or something like this for sale below with the web address along with some killer AFR 205 heads for sale with the best springs installed on them that $ can buy! Believe me, going from 11s n/a on a stock cubed h/c to 10s is like NIGHT AND DAY and you will need all the help you can get as 10s! One of the best proven combos right now is the AFR heads and LGMs G5X3 cam (not the cam below but this one below is good also) and the X3 cams are always for sale in ls1tech.com for around $300.00! I say ditch your cam and start fresh if those cam specs are accurate!
GOOD LUCK!
Here is the cam for sale here which would work great as a street/strip cam with AFR 205s:
