Default Problems??

I have been wanting a Vette for a long time (since the C5s came out and I was 16). I am fianlly in a position that I can afford a "Toy", and it IS going to be a Vette. Just curious what problems I am going to expect from a used C5.

I have read about the oil pressure sender problem, what else is known to happen to these cars.

Going to vary from car to car, but the common problems on the C5 seem to be the column lock, rear differential seals, and rocking seats. Generally though, the cars are reliable and a blast to own.

As mentioned in an earlier post check out the 2nd sticky at the top of the C5 general page. Some of the problems are specific to a certain year and others are not.

I have an 02 and I have replaced the headlight gears (grinding when lowering) and had the EBCM rebuilt. Other than that the car is perfect and drives / rides / looks like it's brand new. Actually it's better than brand new with the MOD's I've done.

Bottom line the C5 is a very reliable automobile and a vast improvement over my C4. IMHO

I have spent $2500 (repairs) on my '97 in 5 years...not too bad...worth every penny. I use mine as a daily driver too. The worst was replacing the fuel level sensor and senders. $1000 UGH

Perma Grin! Ain't that the truth! One of the best day's of my life was the day I bought home my Vette! Only very minor issues in over 36,000 miles of flat out, pure driving enjoyment!
