My center console is peeling alot, especially along the cupholder area and at the inside edge where the seatbelt buckle/clip is. Presume Z06 console is same as regular C5, right? Anybody know if peeling console is a warrantable item (my factory warranty is still intact)?
I don't want to take it in for warranty service if at all possible, so maybe an aftermarket carbon fiber would be swank, or leather? Painted black? Ideas and/or suggestions?
i looked at an 03' Z that the side was peeling where your knee might rest against. but it also smelled like an ashtray, was dirtier than hell and the dic displayed 'low oil'. so i ran fast
Had an '01 Z06 and this current '04 Z06 had center console peeling along the shift boot and on the driver side of the emergency brake. Known issue --but get this--in my '01 the only fix they had was a different color black console--they told me to take it or leave it. Both times fixed under warranty-
Sign me up too. My 01 Z's original one did that at the knee rest. Bought a new one and it didn't have any problems.
It should be covered under warranty.
My Z's panel was peeling where your knee would rest on it.. I wish I knew about a warranty issue.. I bought a new panel through Chris May - It was only $90..
My daughter spilled diet coke and disolved the finish. After I calmed down, since I was tired from chasing her around the block, I removed the console, wet sanded with 400 and repainted with kinckle paint, dried it, wet sanded again with 600, applied satin clear coat, (at least 6 coats) and reinstalled. Looks better than new. Took 2 days, cost $14. Good luck
