wear gloves - it is a knuckle-skinning operation... You can try the usual approach of tying to twist them before you try to remove them. I only did it once, when I was putting on a new set, so I didn't worry about being gentle...
just twist them first...wiggle them around. pull by the boot, NOT THE WIRE!!!! thats why people break them. changing plugs and wires is easy on this car provided you have the right sockets. do you have extensions and swivel heads? that will help a lot! it took me about 30mintutes to do all mine. quite easy. my 96' suburban takes me like 1.5hrs!!! and THAT is an open engine bay! LOL
A spark plug boot removal tool will come in handy. There's many variations of the tool, all are inexpensive, but basically they all hook onto the boot and gives you something to pull on other than the wire.
This is one variation of the tool from SUMMIT RACING. When you re-install, use some dielectric grease on the boots to make future removal much easier. The boot tends to vulcanize to the spark plug w/o a lubricant.
Hint: Before you pull the boot away from the plug make sure you've broken it loose from the end of the plug. You'll feel it - then pull by the boot. $.02
