Default Tire Question

If i bought some wheels 17x9.5 front / 18x10.5 rears would i be able to put on my tires from my stock c5 wheels. 245/40/17 fronts / 275/40/18 rears? its just my tires are new and don't want to go out and buy new tires when i just did. or should i just opt for stock wheels sizes for my c5? picking up some z06 black motorsport wheels from houseofwheels.

Don't really want to get bigger rims due to road conditions out here, my ride would just be horrid if i ran bigger rims than stock. but at least i'll have a new look with the blackies.

They will go on those rims but ill advised. Those rims are too wide for those tires. Others have done this and besides looking bad, they are kind of stretching the tire to fill the entire width of the wheel. It would bother me personallly to run those size tires & wheels on my car.

Hopefully others will reply here that HAVE actually done this. I know there are guys out there that have.

Ideal tire sizes for those wheels are 265/40x17 & 295/35x18

Tirerack shows 8.0" - 9.5" as the applicable wheel width for 245-40-17 and 9.0" - 11.0" wheel width for 275-40-18. So realistically you will be OK putting the tires on the wider wheels, but you will be on the edge of acceptable width for the fronts.

I would either get wider tires that properly fit the wheels (I run 275-40-17 and 295-35-18 on my stock Z06 wheels) or get wheels that closer align with the stock size tires...

I would just run the stock size rims. I agree that the stock tires would fit on the larger rims, but it is stretching them out a bit.
