Another Flying Glass Roof
Just when I thought it was impossible to ever do it again. You get in a hurry, you are loading things in the back, your mind wonders, and you just forget to buckle your top. When you get up to about 35 you get a second or two to say to yourself where's this wind coming from before it takes off like a sail with no boat. Fortunately it didn't hit another car.
But it slid glass side down and needs to be replaced. Is it possible to just get the glass replaced or do I need to get the entire part? I'm thinking about a $1500 booboo.

Some of the vendors like midamerica and others will sell you a replacement one with a core charge and you can send your old one back in.
Or check with the forum vendors for a new one, it will be less then the retail.

One would think if the mfg. can design the detection of DOOR AJAR or DOOR OPEN and announce it on the DIC, they could do the same for the roof tops.

Oh sure they can, but then it would add to the cost.

I'd shop around the forum, craigslist and ebay for a used glass top.

You've done this twice?
Mid-America offers a top that is refurbished - new glass on an original GM frame. You turn your old structurally sound frame in as a core.

Most people dont exit from the roof though.... would be a good idea if it was equipped with ejection seats

Sounds like you should be driving a hardtop. When you get your new top, you'll probably do the same stupid thing all over again. Hopefully, you woan't kill or hurt someone.

I did this once in my old ls1 WS6 I forgot to latched the passenger side t-top and all of a sudden I hear "VOOOOOOOOOOOOM" thats my best descreption and I see my t-top doing 360's and flips in the air and then I have no clue how. Lands perfectly ontop of a hay barrel completely un harmed. I think I pee'd my pants a little bit haha.
