DIY Fender Flares?
What materials did you use, and do you have any pointers that I might be able to pass onto my paint/body guy before we get crackin? Any help is appreciated!

Hell-of-alot less work imho. I didn't think you could make that beast look any better than it already does but apparently you are going to do it anyway.

Here's a link to my progress pic album:

The tips I have:
1) Get cleartastic or clear bra for you rockers if you flare them out a little like I did.
2) Have the wheels built 1st and build the flare to cover them.
3) Shift the center of the wheel well. Look at your car from the side and you'll realize the wheel doesn't sit perfectly in the center.
4) Coordinate the flares with a fiberglass rear fascia (I'm adding a Specter Werkes fascia this year, just got one
5) I used foam core for ribs and a 2 part 4lb density urethane foam to build the mock-up (plug) and polyester fiberglass to cast molds. What I didn't do on the mold was use stuff referred to as epoxy surface coat. Do a search and you'll find the stuff easily.
6) I made my flares using epoxy resin and epoxy mat glass. I spliced them in with Lord Fusor's products. I've heard from several body men etc. that I would have been happier with 3M's 2 part epoxy line . . .
7) After splicing in my home-made flares and completing the bodywork . . . I should have used a top quality sealer (applied just before spraying the basecoat color). I used PPG's epoxy primer as a sealer and it may have work well if I'd had two full coats . . . but next time, when I add the SW rear fascia, I plan to use House of Kolor's selaer.
Just ask if you have any questions or if your body man wants to, he can give me a call.
Dajael: Thx for the kind words brutha. I am definitely going to try to take EFI-1 to another level this year!
74: You da man brutha! I was really hoping you'd chime in. I love what you've done with your ride. I always wanted to flare my fenders, but was stand-offish to lead the way with the SMC fenders. You sir, have set the example!
Aloha & Thx gang. I'll be back.

Thanks for the compliment! But Gary (GBVette) is my idol/mentor. I hope to get my car "Close" to his level over the next two years.
And trust me when I tell you I was quite concerned and stressed more than a few times.
And after painting a little off and on for ~25 years, I thought I was a pretty good painter, then I learned what solvent pop was.
I had to sand my 1/4 panels down through the clear and repaint them. Another 40 hours of work and $200 in supplies/paint when I was ready to be done. :o Again, just ask if you have any questions.
I did not have time to do that and certainly saw some at max acc so just bought them for now.
I know someone else is doing C6 Z06 flares on C5's right now and cannot wait to see the finished products. Hope he makes some extra and sell to public
