Default Diff leak question

I've got a very slow differential leak that only resulted in a few drops of fluid on my garage floor this past summer. The Diff area is "wet" but obviously not leaking significantly. The Vette is in winter storage right now--but thinking ahead, I need some opinions and what to do come summer.

Fix it for $1000+ bucks or just leave it and have the level checked periodically??

$1000+? Seems a bit excessive. Cost me about $300 labor/parts.

$1000 bucks is a little stiff.

That is high. I split the bill with GM and had to pay $180.00.

I got mine done under the original mfg. warranty. Assume you can do the same if you're still under warranty (not sure what year your car is) or if you have GMPP.

Is it leaking now that it is sitting? If not, it may just be coming out the breather which happens sometimes during spirited driving. Drain out a half cup or so and you should be good to go.

That's high for the repair IMO, so check with other repair shops. I'd get the leak fixed - it will not get any better.

Just had my leak repaired at the local Chevy dealer a few months ago. Payed $412.

I think leaks tend to get worse over time, so it's probably best to get in front of the problem..

Default Heard it before...

Sounds like they will have to drop the rearend to fix the leak. Thus the high cost.

Does someone know a way to fix the seal or gasket without removing the rear diff which includes the transmission and tq tube...which requires the whole rear of the car to come out?? If so I sure would like to know how.
