there is a guy in my area who has owned several vipers, he does this thing he
calls the viper trick. there is a large paved parking lot where he works. he revs
viper & starts doing these fast spinning donuts until smoke is boiling & you can't
even see the car. definite crowd pleaser. anyway, he says the viper can do this
like no other car because of its low center of gravity & wide wheelbase. not that
i would recommend, but can a Z do this?
No this isn't a Viper exclusive. In the book the "Heart of the Beast" about the LT5 motor they show scenes from the pre-release press promotion in Europe where one of the engineers would do that and then speed out of the smoke. He called it a grenade or something like that.

What happened in "Heart of the Beast" was he did a front break locked burn out for 30 secs did a hot lap of a road course, came back, stoped, did another 30 sec burn out, and another hot lap w/out breaking anything. Lets see a viper do that.
Re: viper trick:can Z06 do this? (90 Corvette ZR-1)
Donuts are for numbskulls. ;o)
If you want to try something that will really test your SKILL, try doing POWER CIRCLES. We attempted these in C5's at the Bragg-Smith School level two course. Place a traffic cone down and attempt to drive a circle around it in the following manner. Gradually build up your speed and when moving at a good, steady speed, suddenly let off the gas. This will cause the car to let loose, at which point you cut the wheel in the opposite direction, making 100% sure to keep your eyes on the traffic cone! Keep going around that cone in circles (clock-wise of counter cw, your choice). Plan to go through some serious rubber very quickly! You don't want to use tires that have too much traction, so forget about the Z06 sc's.
Have fun and let me know what you think!

Power circles are kinda tough. I finally got the hang of it at Braggs Smith. Definetly learn how to do it on a rental car...I have video of some tires that we just plain killed. Smoke rolling, belts showing, etc. Do too much of it (like 15 minutes) and you wil lbe buying some new tires.
