Default Need a new Hood

Good morning all:

I am looking for a quality hood for my Black C5. I am not looking for a protruding hood ala' Kenne Belle, but (its hard to explain, sorry) the hood that looks like it "cave's in" toward the windshield, then towards the front of the car goes back to normal.

I am not an author, nor do I pretend to be, sorry for being so vague.

Its like the MCM style-hood on the corvettestripes.com page, although w/out the stripes. I am wanting it just black, like the car itself.

Anyone help? I am not wanting junk, so if you can recommend a good company that would be great!

It sounds to me like the hood you're describing is the MCM hood. You can paint it whatever color you want. In fact, it's cheaper if you don't want the carbon fiber showing through on the top. Eckler's sells a fiberglass version for less, but it's much lower quality and takes a lot of work to finish, so it's probably not that much cheaper in the long run.
Cheers,
Vaughn

That's the hood!

I went to the website, and there appears to be 8 different choices, with no names next to the pictures to identify which one is which. Any idea what the heck I should be looking at?

Yeh their website definitely needs to be updated! Some larger res pictures would be nice too!

If you just want the basic MCM hood (you don't have a supercharger) and you're going to paint the whole thing black, then you want:

C5MC0106 MotorCity High Rise C5 Hood $1595.00

If I recall correctly, shipping was around $150. Even though it says "high rise", it really isn't. The MCMCharger hood is more of a high-rise hood for those that need clearance for superchargers. For the best pics of the MCM hood, just do a search on here. GB Vette's is awesome (and black), Z06 Jim's is awesome (also black but with "real" flames). It really is the coolest looking hood ever, IMO. I'll be ordering mine soon. Just waiting to hear back from them regarding a satin/flat finish to the exposed carbon fiber!
Good luck,
Vaughn

Hey John. No problem. I just placed an order for the last one they have in stock. Tell them your on the forum and they give you a discount (which was more than the advertised 10%). Total shipped was like $281 vs. the $359+ on the website.

I just talked to Mike at MCM. He said he's running about 4-5 weeks lead time on hoods. He's still recovering from his health scare, so we're glad he's back, even if he's only making 3 hoods a week. I'm definitely getting one of these soon.

IMO, you won't go wrong getting the MCM hood. In terms of fit, finish, and looks, it's the best there is.

No I haven't. I'm contemplating darkening my whole car slightly (more of a gunmetal, but I'd probably do it in stages...?? MaxAcc rear flares, TS rear end, etc...
