Default CD problem

My new 02 coupe will play commercial CDs but will not play the CDs I burn on my computer. Especially from the rear CD player. I get lots of static and they just cut out at times. These discs play just fine in my other cars? Any suggestions?

Are you sure you're finializing the CD? Some vehicles won't play a burnt CD unless it's finalized. For the most part. I've never had good luck with c5 or fbody cd players. they pretty much suck.

Are they MP3s? Some players do not recognize that format.

I've got the changer in the trunk also and mine doesn't play burned cds well either. They don't really skip, they just sound really bad. I have found that if I burn the cds at the lowest possible speed(1X) they play perfectly. That kind of sucks and is annoying, but if works for me.

Computer software, burn speed, blank disc quality and the cleanliness of the lens all play a factor.

Make sure you are burning to a CDA format and try a lens cleaner (looks like a disc with a tiny brush) and see what happens.

Good Luck

Yeah, no problems using CDR's in my '99. They are in the CDA format or normal music disk. All 12 are burned CD's that I created and they work fine.

To start with, home burned CDs are of a lower quality burn than factory ones. As others have suggested, there could be a number of factors resulting in a "marginal" burn. When I have encountered this, I will re-burn the CD using a different burner. That has worked for me. I have even taken a CD that doesn't play well (static, etc) and used it as the source disc for a re-burn on a different computer and found that the re-burn plays fine in the same player that gave me problems with the original...weird. In amy event, my home burned CDs play well in my '02 factory setup. Good luck!

Default Thanks, it worked

Thanks for the advise. I slowed down the burn rate and the CDs play fine.
