Default new shifter

I'm not necessarily looking for anything better in terms of performance, I just want a better looking shifter than the stock GM shifter and boot that came with my 6-speed C5. Where should I look?

Thanks.

I just bought a C6 Z06 shifter for my C5...you can get a boot to fit this combo from vette essentials (to match your color combo) and it is supposed to be less notchy then stock (plus shoter throw) the shifter **** is also nicer looking...do a search- there are a lot of guys going this route!

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

We have the C6 Z06 shift control kits that are a direct fit into the C5 and work absolutely great! We have sold hundreds of these and they are a major improvement as well as look great. Give us a call at 800-234-5284 or email me at parts@fichtnerchevrolet.com

All parts are at great wholesale prices!

Another vote for the C6 Z06 shifter. I installed mine on July 3rd and have been very pleased. Here is a picture of the C5 vs the C6 shifter.

Thanks.

Get a C6 shifter. Fits perfect, comes with a cool ****, and has a great feel, expecially if you change the tranny oil to synthetic.

Ive gone back and forth with a few "shifters" and for me It was and still Is again, The HURST mine with the Black anodised "pistol" gripe Most people dont do the adjustments and take the time to make It what you want! Anyone can (Hey, I did!) but It takes a little longer than the "one size fits all" type!

I fine tuned my hurst for me, but i swapped it out so my wife can enjoy driving the Z a little more. i think the 6 shooter is a perfect compromise for us

You can, but Vetteessentials shift boot is much nicer, leather instead of cheap vinyl. While you're at it replace the brake vinyl!

Dave, no difference at all. I just put in a C6 Z06 shifter and am a little disappointed. I love the new ****, and the shifter is certainly smooth, but compared to my Hurst, the shifting distances are HUGE!! And it doesn't solidly lock into place like a Hurst... I think I'm going to try the MTI now. I want SHORT throws, but would like my wife to able to drive it once in a while, which she really couldn't do with the Hurst.
