I have an '01 Z06 that just cracked the 30,000 mile mark. The car runs great, never skips a beat and is bone stock. I have heard that the engines in these cars start to lose power after the 30,000 mile mark. I have heard this from some Corvette people as well as some non Corvette people. With that being said I have a friend who had an
'01 Z28 that actually dynoed with more HP at 50,000 miles than at 16,000 miles with absolutely no changes in mods or anything. Now the gain wasn't spectacular, it was like 5 hp but it seemed to show the durability of the engine. My question is: is there any truth to this "rumor" about Corvettes. Do these engines start to lose there punch after 30,000 miles. I tend not to believe this, but I would like to hear from anyone with higher mileage Vettes, or anyone with opinions. I love to drive this car, and I put a fair amount of miles on it per year I would hate to think that they start to lose their kick after 30,000.

Its the opposite, 25k is the mark when the LS6 gains horsepower from the engine breaking in.
I kind of figured it was just people that didn't know what they were talking about. I know how good of an engine the LS6 is
Which people? I had both of mine dynoed after 25k after a good friend who works for GM told me it would increase. I gained about 20/25 hp. My Black Z06 is at 74k and running strong. My Z16 is about to turn 30k.
I have owened two GMC trucks with the LS type motors 5.3 L. Both ran noticably better after they passed the 12K mile mark. Also seemed to get better mileage.
My 04 Z06 is now at 11K+. When it went past about 10K or so I noticed that it seemed to run better - just seemed to pull much harder in 2nd and 3rd gears. Maybe it is just a "seat of the pants" feel, but I have been driving performance cars for quite some time and when they run better you better believe you can feel it.
