if its a 6 speed, it will be a 3.42

auto, either 2.73 (GU2) or 3.15 (G92 i think)
but you check the sticker in the glove box to see which it is.

It's not.

If you have the standard rear end: 2:73
If you have a manual transmission or Z-51: 3:42
If you have an A4 w/ performance axel: 3:15

However, if you brought your car used, the previous owner may have changed it.

Look under the car at the rear end cover. There'sa a sticker on it that says either 2.72, 3.15, or 3.42 if a MN6. Just did one this weekend.

If it is an auto put it in 3rd gear and drive 70 mph. Divide by 100. 3:15 is roughly 3150 rpm.

I asked a friend at the local Pontiac dealer to get a build sheet for my car. It is full of info including the rear end gear ratio. It shows both G90(3.15) and G92. (3.15 performance axle ratio). I assume from this it is the G92 as shipped. FYI it also shows the MXO(4-speed auto w/overdrive) and M30(4-speed electronic auto with OD).

PS these codes are all printed on the sticker on the glove box door exactly as on the build sheet.

That's very strange as I have a 3:15 diff and at 3150rpm I'd be doing well over 100mph!!!!!!!!!!!!
