Just Delivered! (Pics)
Dynotech Engineering! Oh i wonder what could be in this 80lb box!?

Yay! A garbage bag! just what i always wanted!!!

And inside...

In that there crate is a DTE Built Stage 1 Differential with a 4.10 gear ratio. Also included are the C6Z06 and OE output shafts, warranty information and some other stuff i haven't went through yet... hehe
I also ordered a new clutch, and I'll have my installer put them in at the same time. Beginning of next week probably. Then several hundred miles of break in - and then its 'go-time!'
I'm Stoked!!! I hope 4.10s are as awesome as I think they are!! I can't wait to have 'em installed!!

Is it possible? Well i hope so, because DTE sells them with the kit and you're supposed to use them. When you upgrade the engine's mechanical advantage over the output shafts, you increase risk of breaking them, especially the left output shaft. So to help prevent this DTE includes new shafts with your Stage 1 Package. Upgrading to the C6Z shaft on the side most likely to break, and a OE shaft on the other side. So its apparent to me that the C6Z shaft is stronger... how/why i'm not sure maybe the Engineers at DTE can explain.
Here is the Details of their Stage One Package. All i know is what's on that list... hehe

We have a few dozen new, 2006-'07 C6Z left output shafts in stock and since we had the differential apart anyway during the upgrade process, we felt that it would be an added benefit and value for our customers to have the heavier C6Z output shaft retrofitted into their Stage I C5 differential.
While the C6Z left output shaft is not nearly as strong as our specifically engineered 300M unit, it is by far a stronger left-side stock output shaft than the C5 stock shaft ever was...even on it's best day. Therefore, we include that better shaft in our Stage I differentials for our customer at no extra charge. There are other internal modifications we perform here also to our HD differentials that we don't disclose to the public to retain our competitive advantage, but we can assure everyone, it's to our customers' benefit.
As far as we're aware, we're the only builder pro-actively doing this for our clientel and another reason why our HD driveline products stand ahead of the rest in build quality, attention to detail and value for the dollar.

I looked at options for a C5 differential, and DTE's was by far the most appealing to me.
For daily driving, (no drag launches) will a differential strut/brace really be neccessary with 4.10s? My tires ocassionally slip or spin under hard accell (GY Run Flats atm, KDW-2s come summer) and TCS corrects that, but i don't want wheel hop to smash anything... Everynow and then i'll get a little wheel hop but its usually only a shudder or two and TCS kicks in... Does the 4.10 really increase my chances of breaking stuff?
What i mean is will the 4.10 apply greater forces during a wheel hop event to increase the likelyness of things breaking some how? Because the amount of wheel hope with 4.10s or with 3.42s is entirely up to the driver... and i generally make sure to only accell as hard as the tires can handle...
Does the Diff and Transmission have to be completely removed for the brace to be installed, or can i install it anytime if i buy one?

Dan

Congrats!

Thank you for the business and enjoy!
