Default New Headers-Which to go with?

Hey all:

I am interested to find out, bang for the buck, which header I should go with on my 00 C5. I am interested in durability as well as performance, but am ignorant of the best way to go.

Choices include:

LG Pro
Dynatech
Kooks
American Racing

Any others I should consider? Thanks in advance.

Chip,

Your car is beautiful...Thats what I originally wanted, but couldnt find a EB in decent shape anywhere. I even just bought a set of 06 ZO6 wheels for my C5.

I am unsure if I am going FI or H/C on the car yet, although I am doing SOMETHING in the future. I guess the other consideration is whether a set of Lingenfelter, Trick Flow, XYZ heads will work on the headers I am choosing...

LG or Dynatech is what I'd choose.

I called LG and asked the same, I am cloudy on the exact details, but they said if you are not going to upgrade the cam, or do heads stick with the streets. If bigger mods are in the future, go with the pros.

I have installed the DYNATECHs (currently on mine), the LGs (on my buddies) and a set of AR (on my buddies Z) and I will admit, that the AR headers are an easy and nice setup and the power gains between the three (I listed) are similiar. The install on the AR headers was just to easy between the three I listed and that is my driving point. Also, the install on the AR headers was all done under the car on jack stands and it didn't require it being two feet in the air.

I will tell you that I liked all three and I know that the price between them is close, but I think that my DYNATECHs were the cheapest and I love 'em.

I like the Dynatechs myself, but the American Racing headers are a nice choice too.

The difference between the LG streets is pro's comes down to about 5-10. The pro's have the race merge collector and some other extra features. I have a set of LG Pro's that are going on my car this weekend. I say go with LG's either streets or pro's.

Waiting for my AR set up to arrive, give Steve @ CT Corvette a call, he will hook you up for a good price The ease of installation and the way they tuck in the tunnel is what decided it for me.

No need to overpay for headers. These look nice and check out the dyno results on a non tuned car.

Just put LG Streets and X-Pipe on my sons FRC last weekend. Good Quality Headers Polished. Great fit tuck up in the tunnel and fairly easy install by myself on Rhino Ramps and Jack Stands.

I have Kooks on my Coupe at about double the price.

$895 for Headers and X-pipe is a pretty sweet deal.

What were the difference in the sound of those three? What one was the loudest?

I am very happy with the fit/finish/quality of my jet-hot coated Dynatech LT headers with x-pipe and cats.

Also hear good things about AR...

Well, the DYNATECHs and ARs had high flow cats, so the catless LGs were the loudest. I would have to say that because the x-pipe on the LGs are 3" they are the loudest of the three regardless.

You will love 'em. I installed both sides from the top, so if you need any pointers let me know.

I had Dynatechs on my 346. Great fit and finish.

I'm running AR 1 7/8 on the 402. Also great fit and finish. You can't go wrong with either one.
